Transfer & escrow policy

How a domain moves from Ripe Names to you after payment, and when escrow is available.

How transfers work

Every domain on Ripe Names is transferred manually by our team. There is no automated registrar handoff, so a real person confirms each step with you in writing.

After your payment is verified

  1. We confirm your payment has cleared. A redirect or receipt alone is not treated as confirmation.
  2. We verify your identity and the account details you want the domain moved to.
  3. We unlock the domain at the current registrar and send you the authorization (EPP) code together with step-by-step instructions.
  4. You start the transfer at your registrar, or we move the domain into your account where the registrar supports it.
  5. We confirm completion in writing once the domain shows in your control.

Timing

Most transfers are started within 1–2 business days of verified payment. Registrar processing can take up to 5–7 days and depends on the registrars involved. We will keep you updated by email.

Escrow

For higher-value domains we can discuss using a third-party escrow service. Escrow is arranged manually on request — send us an inquiry from the domain page and we will agree the terms with you. We do not currently run an automated escrow integration.

If something goes wrong

If a transfer cannot be completed for reasons on our side, contact us and we will work with you on a resolution, including a refund where appropriate.
